OnePlus did not have a dust and water resistance rating for a very long time. The first device that had a rating was the OnePlus 8 Pro. One justification for not including the rating was to save the expense of getting one. Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, claims that another reason is that the tests used to validate IP ratings are conducted in a controlled setting, as opposed to the actual setting in which OnePlus consumers operate their phones.
OnePlus all variants will have IP68/69 rating
This week on January 7th, OnePlus is going to launch its premium smartphone, OnePlus 13 which has already been released in China. OnePlus all variants will have IP68/69 rating which is for dust and water protection.
The IP 68 rating is for dust, and also water, for water it means it can be submerged in water to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. IP69 is for high-pressure jet streams of hot water. This would suggest that the phone might be utilized in industrial environments, on building sites, and during outdoor activities in inclement weather.
