The Xiaomi Note series has been the highest-selling phone, and it is back with the new Note series, the Redmi Note 14 series. Here, we will review the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus. It is making a lot of news due to its massive 6,200 mAh battery which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen SoC.
The fact that the additional features are available for the same starting price as the previous generation’s Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is even more striking. Despite this, the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus continues to be the priciest Redmi Note phone to date. Let’s see how it performs in real life and determine if it is better than its competitor.
Display and build quality
Xiaomi’s design and weight management are excellent due to the phone’s large 6200 mAh battery. To put it briefly, the in-hand feel is excellent, and the general weight distribution and curved edges greatly aid heavy users. Initially, users might feel heavy using things but soon users will get used to it.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus comes in three colors: specter blue, phantom purple, and titan black. Both of the phones are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The square-shaped camera module is now centered at the top, which is another obvious design adjustment. The phone also has an IP68 rating, which is for dust and water protection. The front screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Victus 2 protection, which is good to see; generally, we don’t see high screen protection in premium midrange devices. The phone above 15,000 does not have a 3.5 mm jack (mostly); the same is the case with the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus; it does not have a 3.5 mm jack.
A 6.67-inch AMOLED curved screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a color space of 100 DCI-P3, and a resolution of 1.5K (2,712 ร 1,220 pixels). The stereo speakers have a respectably loud output, and the display graphics are noticeably brighter. For a sharp viewing experience, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ also supports several display formats. The phone might have the highest peak brightness about 3000 nits considering its pricing.
Cameras:
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ features a 20MP front camera and a new 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor. For clear pictures, it also features a brand-new 50MP telephoto camera with a 2.5x zoom. The 8MP ultra-wide lens is part of the rear camera system. The new Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus takes natural photos with crisp shots and has decent detailing. The phone does not support 4K video recording; still, it takes decent videos with stable and smooth footage.
The camera also comes with AI editing tools, like AI image expansion, which I find quite useful. Users can extend images as per aspect ratio. The phone captures great photos and has a better dynamic range than its predecessor. The daylight photos are decent, they lack a bit of brightness.
The portrait shots come out to be decent, though I want them to be more bushy, but sadly, it’s not. That does not mean the photos are bad; the photos are good and have decent detailing but lack vivid colors. Now let’s talk about the 20MP selfie camera, the portrait shots come out decent in daylight conditions or super bright conditions. The face does not have that much detailing.
In low light, the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus takes impressive photos, and in night mode it has the best details and colors compared to its competitors.
Performance
The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC, which powers the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and is situated in the same price range, is included in the Note 14 Pro+. While the CPU performance is almost the same, the GPU performance is the primary distinction between the two chipsets. In daily usage, you won’t find any lag due to the impressive chipset, whether you are browsing or loading apps it’s buttery smooth. Despite a few small lags, the Note 14 Pro Plus manages multitasking and heavy usage effectively. For example, taking pictures quickly after one another causes a small delay.
The gaming experience was good, though, as seen by the constant high frame rates in the Call of Duty Mobile and BGMI tests. It has respectable, if not superior, thermal management when compared to its counterparts. The CPU Throttle test using the Burnout app indicates that the phone may have trouble maintaining a steady performance under extreme stress, even though I did not experience any throttle difficulties.
With potential for development, the Note 14 Pro+ is a respectable option for customers who prioritize productivity and gaming. For example, fewer third-party apps might improve the user interface and provide a more polished experience. Although Xiaomi should have thought about selling the smartphone with Android 15 out of the box, which includes a few new security-focused capabilities, its three-year OS upgrade pledge is respectable.
Battery
Silicon-carbon battery technology is being used in the latest generation of Android devices, which is assisting OEMs in increasing capacity and decreasing size. The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 6,200mAh capacity and ergonomic design using this new battery technology. The phone will last for the entire day despite heavy usage and gaming. Though all newer smartphones perform better in the initial 6 months.

Verdict
It packs with HyperOS, which has lots of bloatware or third-party apps. If you can handle that, then in terms of gaming or watching content on Netflix, all is delightful. The screen is brighter and has bunchy colors. The benchmark score does not say everything; if you are the one who does not care about the benchmark score and want a phone that can do almost everything without lag, then this phone is for you.
