The new Motorola Moto G 5G 2025 budget smartphone launched recently with a vegan leather finish. Moto G 2025 is cheap, launched for $200, and offers an LCD screen with MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. Moto G directly competes with Samsung A16 which we haven’t used, but it does appear it is better than Moto 2025.
Motorola Moto G 5G 2025: Design and Build Quality
The Motorola Moto G 5G 2025 is a cheap phone but the design looks like a premium smartphone with thin bezels, rounded corners, and a metal frame which gives a premium look. The back panel is the highlight of this smartphone, it uses vegan leather. There are also other variants: Forest Gray and Sapphire Blue.
As it is a budget smartphone, you get a 3.5mm headphone jack that A16 lacks. Although the Moto G is not completely waterproof, its IP52 classification helps shield it from minor water splashes. The Galaxy A16 has a higher grade of IP54, which indicates that it can withstand heavy rain, than the A15, which does not have an official waterproof classification.
Motorola Moto G 5G 2025: Display
The Moto G features a 6.7-inch LCD which is slightly bigger than the 2024 model. It has a 1,604 by 720 resolution which is decent considering its price, but the good thing is it has a 120Hz refresh rate and has Corning Gorilla glass 2 protection. Moto should have gone with a 1080p screen, as we are in 2025, even cheaper phones must have a 1080p screen.
You may use the Moto’s screen for everyday chores. I had no trouble reading material online or navigating through applications. The display is bright enough to see well outside on a gloomy winter day, however, Motorola does not state its maximum brightness settings. In direct sunlight, you may need to squint a little to see the screen.
Motorola Moto G 5G 2025: Performance
The Motorola Moto G 5G 2025 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. Last year Moto G had Snapdragon 4 gen 1 this time they chose Dimensity chipset. Both of the chipsets are nearly similar if we compare benchmark scores, so I don’t see a reason to buy them.
In contrast to the 2024 Moto G, the 2025 model can genuinely pass the graphics performance test known as GFXBench. The phone’s performance on the Aztec Ruins test was 6.4 frames per second (fps). None of these phones are designed to play graphically demanding games, and their results are quite low. With this processor, you can’t play big games like Genshin Impact, because it will stutter.
Motorola Moto G 5G 2025: Battery
Moto 2025 features a 5000mAh battery which is the same as the previous model. All the new phones have great batteries this one is no different, users will be able to use more than a day. However, Motorola has improved the charging rates to 30 W, which is a good improvement. Although we don’t anticipate wireless charging from a $200 phone, it isn’t there on this one.
Motorola Moto G 5G 2025: Camera
The camera is always decent in cheap phones, this is no different. The photos are just average, MotoG 5G has a primary camera of 50MP paired with a 2MP macro camera. The main camera does a great job considering its price, and the natural color that comes out when photos are taken outdoors.
The selfie camera is of 16MP which takes decent photos and can be used for video calling. Photos from the camera do not have great detail. Though the video quality is poor and resembles the images, the phone can capture video at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Verdict
With the Moto G, Motorola is depending more on its brand name, software gimmicks, and long battery life. For simple chores, the phone will work, so we can’t say that it’s a bad idea. If you locate a fantastic bargain that lowers the price even further, you should think about it.
