Satellite SOS Features:
You should be aware of the data that Google gathers if you use Satellite SOS. Google Maps will be used by Google to get your location and it will also collect your personal details such as name, email-id, phone number device info, etc. Users will need to reveal their location via Google Maps after sending messages to emergency services, and since your mobile network is down, you’ll need to respond to a few crucial questions.
Links to a Google support website that lists the nations that Satellite SOS is compatible with are also available on the settings page, although it is not currently operational. Moreover, an association with a Garmin Search and Rescue Insurance policy suggests a possible partnership for satellite connectivity.
Although there aren’t any working samples like “Try a demo” or “Test real mode,” the fact that the shortcut is widely visible on Google Pixel phones and that the settings menu is extensive indicates that this feature will soon be released. The readiness of the settings menu suggests that customers can expect the “Satellite SOS” function on their Google Pixel devices soon, even though the exact launch date is still unknown.
Note: Emergency SOS is available on Pixel 4a and later, and also Pixel Fold.
iOS Satellite SOS
Similar features are available on some iPhone models from Apple in some locations. Nevertheless, India does not currently have access to the service.
For iOS users, when you are in extreme situationsย where there are no other options for contacting the emergency services, you can use Emergency SOS via satellite to help you get in touch with them. Your iPhone tries to connect you via satellite if you try to phone or text emergency services but are unable to do so because you are in an area without cell or Wi-Fi connection.
You must be outside with a clear view of the sky and distance in order to set up a satellite connection. Sending or receiving a message over a mobile connection is not the same as using a satellite link.
Note: Emergency SOS is free for only two years after the activation of smartphones Apple iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro.
