Xiaomi is soon going to launch its first homegrown processor. The Xiaomi Xring processor will be launched in May 2025. This is a very crucial step taken by Xiaomi in recent years, as the country wants to be independent in the smartphone sector. The trade war between China and the US is taking an ugly turn day by day; China must move away from Snapdragon chips.
Xiaomi Xring processor: Self-Developed Chip
Thus, the Xring project was led by former Qualcomm CEO Qin Muyun. His experience provides strong leadership and direction to Xiaomi and its new chip design team. With the Xring, Xiaomi will go up against major chipmakers like Qualcomm and MediaTek.
The chip was made by Xiaomi using TSMC’s 4nm N4P technology. Unlike Huawei, it did not utilize the new 3nm technology to get around any potential limits. This will shield Xiaomi from supply chain problems and international penalties.
There are eight cores in the Xring processor. Its key component is a 3.2GHz high-intensity Cortex-X925 core. Four Cortex-A520 cores running at 2.0GHz and three Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.6GHz support it. This combination offers a good balance between efficiency and performance.
Xiaomi Mobile chip
Xiaomi uses the Imagination IMG DXT72 GPU, which has a 1.3GHz clock speed, for graphics. According to early reports, the Xring’s performance may be comparable to that of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. That indicates that Xiaomi is serious about making a name for itself in the high-end market.
Xiaomi lessens its reliance on outside vendors by creating its chip. It has more control over how its gadgets cooperate. Additionally, it enables faster updates and greater flexibility.
Thus, this action demonstrates Xiaomi’s overarching objective, which is to dominate the global mobile technology market. A significant component of that vision involves developing its own processors. It provides Xiaomi greater control over its next goods and makes it stand out.
At its launch event next month in May, further information about the Xring chip will be disclosed. Fans and enthusiasts eagerly await the results of its everyday operation.
