The highly anticipated car-themed film F1 is making its premiere this year, and the summer blockbuster season is almost here. Brad Pitt starred in the F1 film, which was directed and co-produced by Joseph Kosinski, who is well known for the thrilling Top Gun: Maverick. To provide an immersive experience, the film was shot during real Formula 1 races. Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix today, the German carmaker unveiled the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT63 APXGP Edition to commemorate its role in developing Formula One.

Mercedes played a crucial part in the film’s production. In addition, the brand’s automobiles will be shown on screen as the authorized medical and safety cars. For off-track on-screen appearances, Mercedes also provided an AMG SL, GT, and G-class. Mercedes is also said to have contributed to the creation of the APXGP race cars that are seen in the film; these are highly customized Formula 2 vehicles. Mercedes created new bodywork to resemble authentic Formula One racers and make sure the race vehicles could accommodate a variety of cameras.

With its unique Race Gold highlights that will be seen on the team’s livery in the film, the AMG GT63 APXGP Edition pays homage to the fictional squad in the film. The gold color extends over the rear diffuser’s border and curls around the grille. A gold line that runs down the side of the vehicle is complemented by the gold trim on the front fenders. A gold AMG emblem in front of the rear wheels complements the front fender’s gold checkered flag pattern, which adds visual flair. With intricate lines that seem to create the letters in APXGP, the rear part aft of the doors has a stylish look.

The carbon-ceramic brakes are coated black, and the 21-inch AMG wheels are also matte Race Gold. The special edition also includes the AMG Carbon Fiber and AMG Aerodynamics packages, which include a carbon-fiber front splitter, side sill, rear diffuser, and fixed rear wing for a motorsport-inspired appearance. For a more understated appearance, the AMG Extended Night package adds model-specific badging, the Mercedes star emblem at the back, the AMG crest, and black chrome trim to the grille.

Gold-stitched microfiber suede and black nappa leather seats in the interior carry on the motif. The center armrest, dashboard, door panels, and heated AMG Performance steering wheel all have gold stitching, and there is a ton of carbon-fiber trim with gold threads. The floor mats have a leather insert with APXGP embroidered in Race Gold, and the door sills feature AMG insignia with gold lighting. The AMG Track Pace data system and a 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system are also included in the cabin. A front-axle lift system and a specially designed AMG indoor vehicle cover are further standard features.

The APXGP Edition, like other GT63s, has a 4.0-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine with 577 horsepower and all-wheel drive. Pricing is unknown, however, there are only 52 APXGP Editions available globally, making it a very limited edition. As a constant reminder of the car’s exclusivity, a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” emblem resides on the center console. We anticipate that the pricing will be significantly more than the base price of $191,550 for the GT63.

Brad Pitt portrays a former racer who rejoins the race with Damson Idris, a young up-and-coming driver, in the Formula One movie. Academy Award winners Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem will also make cameos in the movie. On June 27, Formula One will debut in North American cinemas.
