Recently, Sony released an upgraded version of its wireless earphones, with improved noise cancellation and real-time Audio upscaling. The Sony WH 1000XM6 launched in 2025, while its predecessor launched in 2022, so Sony took quite some time to release it. The question is, is it worth it? Let’s check it out.
The audio quality has been significantly improved thanks to studio engineers like Randy Merrill and Chris Genringer from Sterling Sound. Sony has collaborated to make this happen. Michael Romanowski from Coast Mastering and Mike Piacentini from Battery Studios worked to adjust the sound. According to the headphones’ “studio-level accuracy,” listeners will be able to enjoy music as the artists intended.
Sony WH 1000XM6 Noise Cancellation and Design
Sony claims it has improved noise cancellation by using artificial intelligence to continuously adapt to environmental elements such as variations in air pressure. It also has 12 microphones, up from the previous version’s eight. The Sony WH 1000XM6 is equipped with 12 microphones and a new QN3 HD noise-canceling processor, which Sony claims is 7 times more effective than its predecessor. The headphones can adapt swiftly to ambient noise changes.
The WH-1000XM6 features a larger headband as part of its updated design to lessen head pressure. Additionally, its asymmetrical form makes it simple to distinguish between the left and right sides. Compared to the XM5, the hinge now has more movement, enabling the earcups to fold inward. All versions have matte surfaces and come in Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue.
Sony has improved its design from its predecessor, and now it is more comfortable thanks to cushioned air pads and a headband design. Although they make the headphones simpler to carry around, the folding ear cups won’t interfere with the sound quality.
Audio Features
The headphones have a 30mm driver with a novel voice coil configuration and a high-stiffness carbon fiber composite material dome. The sophisticated look-ahead noise shaper in the digital-to-analog converter maximizes quantization noise while reacting fast to abrupt changes in sound.
The headphones also support codecs like SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3, along with Sony’s DSEE extreme upscaling algorithm. On the other hand, a new upmix for cinema mode that converts stereo information into spatial sound is included with the 360 Reality Audio feature.
Call quality of the Sony WH1000XM6
According to Sony, AI-assisted beamforming microphones have improved call quality by better isolating your speech from background noise. This makes it possible to communicate more clearly over the phone, even in loud settings.
Additionally, a brand-new travel bag with a magnetic lock for safe storage while not in use is included with the WH-1000XM6. Sony hopes to provide a remarkable listening experience with its newest product by implementing extensive improvements in a number of areas, including as audio quality, design enhancements, and improved functionality like noise cancellation and call clarity.
Sony WH-1000XM6 Price in India
