Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra

Samsung recently launched its Macbook Pro competitor Galaxy Book 4 Ultra, its not perfect but its definitely a competitor. Read the full review before buying.

Highlights:

  • 120Hz AMOLED display
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GPU

Ultra smartphones or laptops its biggest product for Samsung, the company recently launched its MacBook rival, the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra. The Book 4 Ultra is designed around 120 Hz on one of Samsung’s usually captivating AMOLED panels. It does this by packing the fastest Intel Core Xeon 185H CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU into a comparatively light and small chassis. With this laptop, Samsung is obviously going after the ever-popular content creation sector, but its feature set also makes it suitable for employees, casual gamers, students, etc.

These premium features come at a hefty price of โ‚น230,000- โ‚น289,000. So let’s see how it competes with the MacBook.

PRICE AND CONFIGURATIONS:

Samsung which I used comes with Intel core Ultra 9 185H processor supported by Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GPU. It comes with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage.

The display that has been used is AMOLED with resolution 2,880 x 1,800 and 120Hz refresh rate.ย  This variant cost you around โ‚น289,000. There is also lower variant which is powered by intel Core Ultra 7 155H with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 6GB GPU and 16GB of RAM, By the way you can buy this variant from Samsung website at lower price it will cost around โ‚น233990. For higher variant you need to buy from Croma or other stores.

SAMSUNG GALAXY BOOK 4 ULTRA: DESIGN AND PORTS

The Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra comes with a very simplistic design, and the one I have is a MOONSTONE GRAY color. This laptop is thin and has a 16-inch screen display. Samsung creates the illusion that the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra is even slimmer by using optical tricks. When viewed from a straight angle, the laptop appears pretty uniformly thick from front to back. However, when viewed from a slightly elevated angle, Samsung tapers the edge of the laptop, giving it a wedge-like look. Additionally, by keeping the vents on the side hidden, you may achieve better thermal performance without seeming like a workstation or gaming laptop.

Two Thunderbolt 4 connections and one HDMI 2.1 port are located on the left. The microSD card slot, USB 3.2 Type-A connector, and combo headphone and microphone jack are all located on the right side. A full-size SD card reader is not available.

DISPLAY:

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra has a 3K (2,880 x 1,800) display slightly lower than 4K, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an AMOLED panel at the front with a touchscreen feature. The display is sharp due to the high resolution, and blacks look great due to the AMOLED panel. If you want to binge-watch movies on Netflix, then this laptop is for you. Watching content on this laptop is delight because of AMOLED you get deep blacks and also has HDR capabilities.

The laptop is bright in you room but not in sunlight, the display brightness is around 384nits andย  DCI-P3 color gamut is around 81.8%. While it is less than the current average of 467 nits for premium laptops. In contrast, the MacBook Pro 16’s mini-LED display, at 560 nits, is among the brightest that I used, while the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, at 373 nits, trails the Book 4 Ultra in brightness.

SAMSUNG GALAXY BOOK 4 ULTRA: OTHER FEATURES

Key travel on the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra keyboard is a meager 1 mm. A 1.3mm to 1.5mm range is often preferred by users for a simple and reliable keystroke. The typing experience is impressive; though I am not a typing expert, what I can say is that I made fewer mistakes.

The touchpad is also great and it has windows gestures. Its slick surface never caught my finger, and taps and swipes registered right away. My hands sat comfortably on either side of the touchpad when typing, and palm rejection effectively stopped any inadvertent touches from being registered.

Touchscreen also works fine, though I am not a fan of touchscreens; it just makes the screen more dirty with your own fingerprint. Touch response is impressive it does not feel laggy like it used to in early touch screen laptop.

AUDIO:

The speakers are present at the bottom of laptop or lets call it bottom firing speakers, let me be clear volume is not an issue but most of laptop lacks is bass same is with this laptop. Use headphones for impressive output.

PERFORMANCE:

I was quite pleased with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU in the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra because to its strong overall performance and productivity. The Galaxy Book 4 Ultra easily outperformed the average of 8,760 premium laptops with a multi-core score of 13,061, according to the Geek Bench 6 overall performance test. Additionally, it outperformed theย  Yoga Pro 9i (12,141, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H), a competitor for Windows. The MacBook Pro 16 (21,182, M3 Max) is an unstoppable force that prevented the Book 4 Ultra from winning hands-down.

Comparably, Samsung’s 1TB SSD did well, easily surpassing the average for premium laptops (1,416.5 MBps) with a 20GB file transfer rate of 1,883.6 MBps.

GRAPHICS:

Now let’s talk about my favorite part, which is graphic cards. Let me be clear: this is not a gaming laptop, but it does come with the Nvidia RTX 4070, on which you can do some gaming, but it’s better to use for editing rather than gaming. If you want gaming, then find a gaming-centric laptop; there are a lot better options than this one.

HEATING AND WARRANTY:

The hottest temperature that I recorded was around 93 degrees, which is OK because of its high performance. The touchpad remains the coolest, and the keypad gets hot, but that is not a big issue. The Galaxy Book 4 Ultra has a one-year limited warranty.

VERDICT:

So the question arises: who can buy this laptop? Well, those who are into video editing can buy this laptop, but it’s not for gaming. Let me be clear: you can play games on this laptop, but you won’t get high FPS. So employees, students, or content creators can use this laptop without any problem. So it’s not a perfect alternative for the MacBook, but it gives tough competition. The truth is, nobody buys this laptop, which costs this much. It’s better to build a PC rather than buy a laptop if you want to save money.

Query:

Q-what is the price of Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra?

A-lower variant which is powered by intel Core Ultra 7 155H with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 6GB GPU and 16GB of RAM, By the way you can buy this variant from Samsung website at lower price it will cost around โ‚น233990. For higher variant you need to buy from Croma or other stores.
