The Tesla We, Robot event held last night, and CEO Elon Musk introduced the Cybercab, which is fully autonomous, and the Tesla Robovan, which can carry 20 people at a time.

Tesla last night showed a glimpse of the fully autonomous RoboTaxi, which is called Cybercab and has butterfly doors. It’s quite similar to the Cybertruck; it has a quiet big trunk, is far smaller, and its design is more aerodynamic. The new Tesla Cybercab is designed to accommodate only two seats. The main highlight of the new car is that it does not have a steering wheel and has no pedals; it only has a big screen in the middle of the car, you can control the car from the screen.

CEO Elon Musk stated that the Cybercab will be sold to the consumers for less than $30,000 although he did not disclose any performance or range estimations. Also, it will have inductive charging, which eliminates the need for a physical connector to recharge the battery.

Musk showed off an electric van, also called Tesla Robovan. which can accommodate around 20 people. No details has been released by the company. Tesla has hinted to a van in the past. The corporation stated in its Master Plan Part Deux that it was creating “high passenger-density urban transport” and that autonomous buses may be used.

Tesla barely revealed any details about the Robovan’s design until their 2023 Investor Day, which was held just before the event. At that time, Tesla announced that it intended to produce about 20 million cars a year by 2030, which would need a large increase in production capacity over earlier years. Though the Robovan has generated a lot of excitement, Musk did not elaborate on possible new manufacturing facilities or improvements to current operations.

According to Tesla, the Model 3 and Model Y will begin operating entirely autonomously in Texas and California next year. Before the Cybercab really hits the road, that is, in 2026. Delivery timelines for Tesla goods have often been overestimated by Musk, and we anticipate that this one won’t be any different. He acknowledged that in the past, he had been “optimistic” about deadlines.

With the recent introduction of the Mercedes eSprinter and Volkswagen ID Buzz, the electric van market is rapidly heating up. Additionally, there is the Ford E-Transit, BrightDrop Zevo, and Ram ProMaster EV in the commercial category. We don’t know if Robovan will be available to customers or not (commercially). The introduced vehicle’s is not coming before 2027, it will take time.
