Ghost of Yōtei is coming soon

Ghost of Yotei is a much awaited game that centers around a woman seeking revenge in the cold regions of northern Japan.

Sucker Punch Productions unveiled Ghost of Yotei on Tuesday, marking the start of a legitimate series that will feature at least one film as well as more spinoffs.

In the sequel, a female protagonist named Atsu will embark on a journey through the Northern Japanese regions surrounding Mount Yōtei in the 1600s.

Almost 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, the events of Ghost of Yotei take place in 1603.

Players will go to Mount Yōtei, a volcanic peak in Ezo, an area of Northern Japan that is today known as Hokkaido, in this game.

In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It's a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima, and it's the setting for an original story we can't wait to tell,” Sucker Punch said in a PlayStation Blog

A new protagonist will also be included in Ghost of Yotei, taking the place of the first game's samurai Jin Sakai. The new hero, Atsu, appears in the trailer wielding a shamisen and an uchigatana.

According to Suck Punch, the gameplay of the game will be enhanced over Ghost of Tsushima with new weapons and systems.

The trailer makes a strong mention of Atsu's apparent wolf companion. There will probably be more in-depth interactions with wildlife in the game. She is dressed in a straw hat and the Ghost mask.

In the upcoming months, more information regarding Ghost of Yotei's gameplay and plot will be released.

Ghost of Yotei arrives on the PS5 in 2025.
