Apple has introduced tons of features with this update. With this new update now Siri can announce messages in any supported language.  Battery Health in Settings includes comprehensive information like battery cycle count, manufacture date, and first usage for particular iPhone models, and Stolen Device Protection now provides more protection options.

With Wallet or Safari AutoFill, the Apple Cash virtual card now makes payments possible at retailers who previously does not have support of Apple Pay. Additionally, Apple has enhanced Call Identification, displaying department names, business names, and logos that have been validated by Apple when available.

iOS 17.4 for EU Countries:

With the passing of the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple has made several adjustments to the Apple App Store and app behavior within the EU. The iOS 17.4 update contains these modifications, which are only applicable to devices located in the European Union.

Other App shops and Payment Options: Customers are free to choose their preferred retailer, and EU developers can now release their software through other app shops. Developers can also add other payment methods—aside from Apple Pay—to their apps to provide users more alternatives for making payments. Third-Party Browser Engine Support and NFC Chip Access: Apple has expanded support for third-party browser engines on iOS and enabled NFC chip access for banks and third-party payment apps that are based in the European Economic Area (EEA). By allowing contactless payments to be made directly through these apps, this provides users with more payment options.

Apple states that your Apple ID must be registered to one of the EU member states, which include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden, in order for you to be considered eligible to use the iOS alternative app stores under the new system.

Moreover, you must be physically present in the European Union, as the device uses geolocation to confirm this and protect your exact location from being shared to Apple’s servers.

Apple also highlights the possibility that your eligibility may vary based on where you reside. Although there is a “grace period” that permits short journeys outside the EU, longer stays could lead to the deactivation of your account on these app marketplaces. However, Apple has not specified the duration of this grace period.
