Google launched its cheapest phone in India, i.e., Google Pixel 9A, starting at ₹49,999. Though the cheapest phone from Google, it’s not cheap for Indians. Google says it’s an affordable smartphone, but the question is, would anybody buy this phone? There are a lot of smartphones from Chinese and Indian (Lava) brands, which provide cheap phones.
The Pixel 9a, which comes in Iris, Porcelain, and Obsidian, has a new flat profile, the brightest A-series display yet, and built-in Gemini support for AI-powered features. The Pixel 9A is now available on online stores, fans can buy this smartphone from Flipkart. It also has some exciting offers like ₹3,000 instant cashback and 24-month no-cost EMI options via HDFC, IDFC First, and Bajaj Finserv.

The phone’s 6.3-inch Actua OLED screen has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and is 35% brighter than its predecessor, with a maximum brightness of 2700 nits. Its internal components include a unique Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
The Pixel 9a provides a notable improvement in photography with its 48MP primary sensor and 13MP ultrawide lens. Along with features like Best Take, Magic Editor, Night Sight, Audio Magic Eraser, and Astrophotography, the gadget marks the debut of Macro Focus on the A-series.
The integration of Gemini AI, including Gemini Live, is one of the most notable upgrades. It enables users to communicate with the assistant voice-activatedly, access Google Maps, Calendar, and YouTube, and even screen-share with the assistant for real-time assistance, a capability that was previously exclusive to more expensive Pixel models.
The phone is packed with a 5000mAh battery, and the company promises 30 hours of usage on a single charge, and goes up to 100 hours with extreme battery saver, which people will never use. The phone has water and dust protection thanks to an IP68 rating. Google has claimed that the Pixel 9A has the best battery life of any Pixel device to date.
With features like School Time settings, Family Link parental controls, and personalized onboarding that makes it simple for parents to set up the device, Google is promoting the Pixel 9a as the perfect first phone for children.
The Pixel 9a will get seven years of OS and security upgrades, in line with the update schedule of high-end Pixel smartphones, as part of Google’s commitment to long-term support. The gadget also has features like Find My gadget live location sharing, Theft Protection, and Car Crash Detection.
